Watchdog Warns of Highly Flammable Halloween Costumes

Consumer programme Watchdog has warned viewers of highly flammable Halloween outfits that can be found on sale in supermarkets.  Costumes can be ablaze within seconds, and the resulting flames and melting fabrics can rapidly cause severe burns.

Worryingly, these costumes pass safety tests allowing them to bear the European CE mark, usually an indicator of product safety but according to Watchdog (and Consumer Lookout concurs with their view) seriously misplaced in this case.

In the latest episode of Watchdog TV presenter Claudia Winkleman told of the traumatic incident when her 8 year old daughter’s costume caught fire.
